• Material: Most types of card media, hang tags, phone cards and loyalty cards. Cards need to be in a pristine condition without bows, bends and burrs.

• Orientation: Portrait and landscape credit card size - CR80. Hang tag cards up- to a height of 200mm.

• In feed: Feeder continuously re-loadable to allow a minimum 1200cards @ 0.82mm or 4000cards @ 0.2mm cards to a maximum total length of 1.2m. In feed controlled from a moveable control arm.

• Feeder: Continuously re-loadable single card de-collation capable of feeding up to 40.000 cards/hour. Feeds all card types and materials from 0.2mm thickness to 1.02mm.

• No adjustments are required for different card sizes and thickness. A support for hang tags is provided. The feeder includes a double detector for cards that have stuck together.

• System Controller: The Editor GT, system controller, handles all the key functions of the system. This includes database set up, ink jet set up, ink jet control, label head control, vision verification of data and label positioning, reorder functions and bin sort control.

• All positioning set ups can be carried out in real time and the system allows for fully variable speed operation to suit the type of product being run.

• Based on Microsoft’s® Windows NT®, the Editor GT makes full use of windows graphics and networking capabilities. The software includes access control, line monitor and management statistics including product failure descriptions.

• Remote diagnostics can be carried out using a modem connection.

• The system includes an advanced security access package developed for the card industry.

• Ink Jet Printer: Domino Bitjet 212 digital printer. 256 addressable jets across 54mm print band with all font formats available from Windows NT®. Plus graphic imaging limited only by internal data memory. And all major barcodes, including 2 / 5 interleaved ,

• Code 39, Code 128 and EAN 13. Printer comprises Print Engine and RIP mounted in stainless steel wheel around rack.

• Ink Jet Support: Bracket will enable quick and accurate setting and allow accurate positional replacement of ink jets after cleaning. Print go sensor to be triggered repeatedly from the leading edge of any colour of card.

• The cleaning tank is constructed of stainless steel with a drain facility for the removal of Ink Jet solvents.

• Label Applicator: High speed labeller applying scratch-off labels to cover PIN number or other secure data at 40.000 cards/hour.

• The labeller can hold reels of up to 400mm. Placement accuracy +/- 1.6mm at 40.000 cards/hour.

• The label heads are triggered from the system controller with a resynchronisation photo sensor being used to achieve maximum accuracy.

• Vision System: Two camera verification of data and label placement using Axode 20 system.

• Functions are:

  • (1) Reading of barcodes I2/5, Code 39, and Code 128.

  • (2) Reading of PIN numbers or other data up to 20 characters long.

  • (3) Verification of scratch label position and label integrity

  • (4) Verification of card orientation.

• Each camera allows a single ¨Region Of Interest¨.

• The set up of the Axode 20 is done externally with a user-friendly interface software running under Windows NT. This software will be run on the system controller. Once the application set up is complete, the parameters can be backed up in the reader flash EPROM and the connection with the controller closed.

• The system controller will be the master of the vision systems, for set up and also management. The number of consecutive errors allowed before the line stops can be set for both the data match as well as for the label position. A tolerance band is set for label positioning.

• The only external device for the vision system will be a 9 inch video monitor for each camera. This monitor is used to display the image coming from each reader during the set up of a new job.

• Barcode Reader: Barcode reader to check integrity of barcodes printed on the card. Out of tolerance barcodes will cause the card to be reject. A value for the number of consecutive errors allowed before line stop can be set on the controller.
